Skaro Pilgrimage ~ August 14 - 15, 2018
100th Anniversary
|
In the year 1918 the early Polish settlers built a shrine in the memory of Our Lady of Lourdes. To this day the shrine attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over Alberta to the annual Skaro Pilgrimage, held every year on August 14. The 2018 pilgrimage will begin Tuesday, August 14, with Reconciliation at 6:30 p.m., followed by Rosary at 7 p.m., Vespers in Polish at 7:30 p.m., and Mass at the Grotto at 8 p.m., will be presided over by Archbishop Smith. A candlelight procession of the Blessed Sacrament follows the blessing of religious articles.
On Wednesday, August 15, at 10 a.m., there is a special Mass at the Grotto with the Sacrament of the Sick. Food will be available for purchase before the Vigil Mass on the 14th and also after the 10 a.m. Mass on the 15th. Skaro Shrine is 80 km northeast of Edmonton, at the intersection of Highway 45 and Secondary 831. |
